EHS: OUR NUMBER ONE VALUE

At S&E Bridge & Scaffold, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is our number one value. It's a basic right, and our first and foremost responsibility is protecting our workers. In addition, we believe we owe it to anyone and everyone working with and around our products and services to maintain and continuously improve our safety performance – setting the standard in our industry.

The S&E Bridge & Scaffold leadership team believes that ALL accidents can be prevented and that ALL of our employees are responsible for EHS – not only for themselves – but for their co-workers, customers and contractors on each and every jobsite where we are delivering products and services. With this in mind, ownership, personal responsibility and the importance of following policies and procedures is consistently communicated across our company.

Additionally, we believe that safety drives efficiency and productivity. Our experience has shown that the safest company is also going to provide the best quality and performance at the lowest total installed cost. With this in mind, S&E Bridge & Scaffold embraces the following proactive programs and processes to continually focus on and improve EHS, including:

  • 10 Life Saving Rules
Every S&E Bridge & Scaffold employee must live by these ten zero-tolerance safety rules to protect themselves and others from injury.
  • Stop Work Authority and Intervention All S&E Bridge & Scaffold employees are empowered with the authority to intervene and stop work whenever they think an unsafe condition may exist.
  • Planning and Job Hazard Analysis
Our Job Planning Process consists of Site Hazard Assessments, Site Safety Plans, and Job Hazard Analyses. Every S&E Bridge & Scaffold employee is recognized as a safety representative first and foremost and is to address each task with safety awareness through our Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) process. The JHA process is designed to recognize hazards and eliminate or mitigate them prior to executing tasks.
  • Safety Behavior Observation Process
This proactive tool helps us identify and correct behaviors in the workplace that could lead to poor decisions in the hazard recognition and control process. The immediate goal of our Behavior Observation Process is to stop accidents before they happen by identifying potential hazards associated with the environment, project, or work practices and coach employees on the correct behaviors.
  • Monitoring & Training
Safety training is conducted as part of every new hire orientation. In addition, task, site, environmental, compliance and best practices training is continuous and ongoing everyday throughout S&E Bridge & Scaffold. Inspections, employee observations, safety meetings and toolbox talks occur regularly at S&E Bridge & Scaffold jobsites.
  • Partnerships for Safety
The parent company of S&E Bridge & Scaffold has teamed up with Honeywell to develop customized, personal protective equipment designed specifically for our industry. In addition, our parent company has partnered with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) on a national initiative to stop falls, the leading cause of work-related injury and deaths.
  • Metrics
How do we know we are continually improving in safety? In addition to tracking lagging indicators, we track leading indicators to identify areas of potential risks and act on them to help prevent the accident from occurring. We evaluate the effectiveness of our safety practices, processes and programs and continue to make adjustments to keep our employees and customers safe.
